Starting the year from PRESENCE over PERFORMANCE
Misty Lucas | JAN 3
January has a reputation for being loud.
All the things and sayings you're inundated with about new year, new you, big goals, better habits, start fresh.
It’s a lot to carry before you’ve even had your first cup of tea.
At Still Shores, we’re not interested in starting the year by asking you to become someone else. We’re more curious about what happens when you begin by listening.
Resolutions tend to come from the mind trying to manage the future. They’re often built on unreasonable expectations and quiet self-criticism. Do more, fix this, lose weight, be better. The nervous system rarely responds well to that kind of pressure.
A different way to reset is play with setting an intention. This is a different way to explore the new year.
An intention is about how you want to experience your life, not how perfectly you plan to execute it. It can be a word, a feeling, a quality you return to when things get messy. Not a finish line a compass.
You might choose ease, or courage, or steadiness or devotion to your own rhythm.
This isn’t about shrinking your dreams. It’s about grounding them in the body so they’re sustainable. When intention lives in sensation rather than willpower, it has staying power.
The body knows when something is aligned, the nervous system softens, decisions become clearer and your energy stops leaking.
Starting the year this way is an act of heart-centred leadership, for you for family and for others. You’re choosing to lead yourself with presence instead of pressure. You’re choosing a relationship over control.
That’s the kind of beginning we’re here for.
NEW SCHEDULE
At Still Shores we’re welcoming the new year with a refreshed studio schedule designed to support steadiness, consistency, and nervous system care. Classes are paced to help you settle in, reconnect, and build a rhythm that actually fits your life. Here is the link to book your class today: YOGA CLASSES
WORKSHOP
I'm also hosting Anchored in Intuition: Creating Your 2026 Soul Map, a workshop for women who want to move forward with clarity without forcing the timeline.
In this workshop you’ll
• slow down and listen beneath the noise of expectations
• connect to your intuitive guidance
• choose an intention that feels embodied and true
• map the energy and themes you want to live into in 2026
A beautiful guided journal is provided so you can continue the conversation with yourself long after the workshop ends.
This is visioning without hustle. Direction without overwhelm.
NEW SERVICE
I'm also welcoming a new service into the studio: Indian Head Massage. Book your service TODAY.
This treatment is deeply grounding and especially supportive for women who carry tension in the jaw, neck, shoulders, and scalp without even realizing it. It’s a nervous system-focused practice that helps quiet mental noise, release held stress, and invite the body into rest without needing to explain or process anything. If your mind feels busy but your body is craving stillness, this is a beautiful way to begin the year feeling held, supported, and deeply cared for.
Start your year by coming back to yourself.
